The Arkansas Craft Guild’s 34th Annual Christmas Showcase will be held in Governors’ Hall IV at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas, on December 7, 8 & 9, 2012.

This holiday shopping extravaganza features quality art and fine crafts, both traditional and contemporary, by artistic members of the Arkansas Craft Guild and their guests. Over 100 artists offer a unique array of fine hand crafted work at the Christmas Showcase including pottery, woodworking, fiber art, glass, photography, jewelry, gourmet foods, and much more.

Show hours are:

• 10 am until 8 pm on Friday
• 8 am to 6 pm on Saturday
• 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday

Admission is $5.00 at the door.

It Bag, It Purse, It Handbag

What is an “It Bag“? It is an easily identifiable and desirable “status bag (purse, handbag)”. Names such as Prada and Hermès Birkin bag quickly come to mind. They are recognizable due to their artisan-made hardware, distinctive use of fabrics and exceptional quality with an equally exceptional price tag.

According to Wiki: The term “It Bag” was coined in the 1990s with the explosive growth of the handbag market in fashion. Designers competed to produce a single, easily recognizable design which, if cleverly marketed, endorsed by the fashion press, or seen being carried by a celebrity, would become that season’s must-have bag, selling in large numbers. Designers such as Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Fendi, Hermès, Prada, Gucci, and Vuitton are known as creators of desirable “It Bags”.

The Birkin Bag became one of the most desirable, widely recognized purses during the “designer bag craze” during the 1990′s and early 2000′s. By 2008 the popularity of the “It Bag” was reported to be in decline. In May 2011, whilst acknowledging that there would always be customers for expensive status handbags, Celia Walden reported that the concept of the must-have “It Bag” was dead for fashion. It will return as fashion recycles.
