Women are the majority of pinners on Pinterest right now and it’s a great way to have imaginary wardrobe collections, imaginary collections of just about anything that is of interest to you and it’s free. It is as addictive as any other game, in our opinion, but not harmful. As a matter of fact you can go on an imaginary shopping spree and not spend a penny. You will see and pin many recipes and projects that you will probably never use, but they are there for quick reference any time you want to go back to them.

Sharon Barber Transformable Designer Purses were a featured “Made in the Metro” product in the recently published 2013 Guide to Central Arkansas, Where We Live. The Guide is a special publication of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. It highlights places and things of interest around the Greater Little Rock area. You will find Arts and Entertainment, Recreation, Health Care, Education, Shopping, and more, in the Guide.

According to the feature, “Benton engineer Sharon Barber started developing a design and prototype for her unique purses in 2001. Many experiments later, Barber now operates her business selling women’s and children’s purse that are transformable and interchangeable with wraps and accessories. The patented purse system allows a purse owner to quickly change their look for everyday use or a specail occasion, but the contents inside the purse won’t have to be transferred to a new one.”

The feature also states; “A built-in impact resistant mirror and patented attach pad with hook and loop fasteners help add to the convenience of the purse’s design. The purses come in three sizes, each named after a woman in Barber’s circle of family and friends.”

Sharon Barber, with Sharon Barber Purses, is a small business owner nominee for the Martha Stewart American Made Choice Awards contest.  Ten American Makers will be selected whose work shares the quality, beauty, inspiration, possibility, and creativity embodied by Martha. Finalists will be announced before September 7, 2012 and audience voting will begin for the Audience Choice Award winner. The winner will be honored at the American Made event in New York City and will receive $10,000 to further their business and appear in Martha Stewart Living Magazine.

Puzzle Purse Features Interchangeable Parts

It was in 2004 that I first mentioned Arkansan Sharon Barber and her patented line of boxlike, transformable handbags featuring interchangeable wraps, straps and decorations.

The Benton resident is still going strong and now has a new offering for kids in the form of Debi the Puzzle Purse,$40-$46.

The purses are just the right size and shape for little girls, and a custom strap length is available for any adult fans.

Offered in 15 styles, Debi can be disassembled and paired with other accessories. “Take it apart, put it back together. It’s just like working a puzzle!” according to a news release.

Each one-of-its-kind purse comes in a base with natural hardwood detail and the interchangeable features … including a decorative clip in some designs. Each purse also includes a built-in, impact resistant mirror and is named, numbered and signed by Barber. The purses are available at sharonbarber.com.

Debi, The Puzzle Purse is made for girls and is offered in several styles, including Sunshine Yellow, Green Froggy and Lady Bug.
